Review: My Binondo Girl (ABS-CBN)

Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it.

Let us blame Jade (Kim Chiu) for setting their residence on fire and for the death of Chen Sy II (Robi Domingo) in a car accident. She wished that she be with her father, which can't happen if the Dimaguiba family have no problem and if the heir is alive. That's why the universe had to connive and bring her what she wished for.

Nice one Jade. If you hadn't been so selfish.

Anyway, here's my review of My Binondo Girl.

My Binondo Girl - Why Jade wants to be a boy

When I saw the My Binondo Girl trailer, the first question that pops into my mind is: Who is Yuan Xi?

How and when Yuan Xi is born is not detailed in the "once-upon-a-time" story Zhenie (Ai-Ai delas Alas) is narrating to Jade (Mutya Orquia).

The pilot episode of My Binondo Girl immediately answered my question. I knew the "one-upon-a-time" story is just made up. Yuan is Zhenie's second born, who died on his birth. And he's the reason why Jade wants to be a boy.

'Sino Ako' by Regine Velasquez - My Binondo Girl Music Video and Lyrics

"Sino Ako," the official soundtrack of My Binondo Girl is sung by Regine Velasquez and composed by her husband Ogie Alcasid.

The title seems to be the Filipino version of Mulan's official soundtrack Reflections, especially if you read the first part of the lyrics.

The "Sino Ako" Lyrics is composed of only a few words which doesn't really make much sense to me. In the first parts, it's the voice of a someone looking for herself, and then someone who is hoping she can be with her lover forever.

My Binondo Girl: Kim Chiu plays a male role

If you were a daughter longing for your father's love, what would you do everything to have it?

Kim Chiu's character Jade, in ABS-CBN's newest primetime drama My Binondo Girl, chose to pretend to be the son that her father wanted. Kim Chiu has to bind her breast and gain weight to achieve the built and stance of her male character, Yuan.

I think what Jade did is too much. Did she really have to do it?
