Sa Ngalan ng Ina (TV5) trailer, cast and plot summary

Sa Ngalan ng Ina is the first mini-serye on TV5 airing Monday to Friday for four or five weeks starting October 3, 2011.

I am not really excited about it but with TV5's big budget, big cast, and big production, what can go wrong?

However, I think this is more catered to the older demographics who were fans of Nora Aunor. I am not going to watch it as much but I think a lot of people will.

So far, Sa Ngalan ng Ina is the biggest attempt of TV5 to earn their lot in the Philippine TV landscape. Will it be a success or not? Let's find out in the coming weeks.

Sa Ngalan ng Ina Plot Summary/Synopsis

Sa Ngalan ng Ina is a story about two warring political families, the Deogracias and the Ilustres. This plot summary of Sa Ngalan ng Ina may contain spoilers.

Armando Deogracias (Bembol Roco), who’s married to Elena Toribio Deogracias (Nora Aunor), is the current town mayor now running as governor while eldest daughter Andrea Deogracias (Nadine Samonte) is running for mayor. Aside from Andrea, they have two sons: Alfonso (Alwyn Uytingco) and Angelo (Edgar Allan Guzman).

At their political rally, a grenade is thrown on stage and Armando is killed. They point to their political foe as the culprit, the wheelchair bound Jose "Pepe" Ilustre (Christopher de Leon), who’s married to Lucia Ilustre (Rosanna Roces), with Carmelo (Karel Marquez) as their daughter.

It appears that Andrea, Alfonso and Angelo are not really Elena’s children. She’s only their stepmom.

Also in their household is Pacita Toribio (Eugene Domingo) and ward Elsa (Eula Caballero).

There’s a Romeo-and-Juliet kind of romance between Angelo and Carmela.

Rosanna is pictured as an Imelda Marcos figure and it’s shown that she’s the one who masterminded the bombing, with the help of someone in Armando’s camp, Zaldy (Ian de Leon), who serves as his security man.

It’s also apparent that Elena and Jose have a past together and it’ll be revealed later that Elsa is actually their own daughter.
